Thumbnails Are Not Appearing

wordpress thumbnails

Best Answer nashamiki, 25 April 2015 - 09:36 AM

Hello Eric,

We just released TubePress 4.1.6 which should fix this HTTP 404 error. Give it a try and let us know?

Yes, that's done it alright. The version 4.1.6 has finally got things to work perfectly on my site at : http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

I've tested clicking on the thumbnails and they load the video just fine.

Thanks very much for your help.

On my website I had previously been using the "cooleye" plugin to create a cooliris video wall with Youtube videos. Since the plugin has failed I have now installed TubePress. See my test page here : http://surau-an-nur.my/test/ The problem I'm having is the thumbnails are not appearing. I am using Mesocolumn theme on WordPress 4.1.1. On another of my websites TubePress works just fine : http://toptravelbooker.com/videos/ Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Mokhsein,

I went to your surau-an-nur site and the thumbnails loaded properly for me.  Could you please confirm you are still having this issue?

Thanks!

Hello Brandon. Well, I was working on the assumption that some other plugin was causing the error, so I was deactivating and reactivating plugins whilst troubleshooting. Perhaps you loaded my page during that time. I still have not figured out which plugin is causing the error. Will post later once I have zeroed in. Meanwhile the error now seems to be intermittent.

Hello,

Easiest way to zero in on the problematic plugin is to disable all of them, then turn them on, one at a time, while testing tubepress after each activation.  Once tubepress stops working, you know which plugin caused the problem.

Thanks!

Hello Brandon. I think I have found it. The BJ Lazy Load Plugin https://wordpress.or...s/bj-lazy-load/ I have disabled and deleted it and now the thumbnails are appearing. However there is another issue, as clicking on any thumbnail does not load the video. Any ideas? Thanks.

Prior to further troubleshooting, please update to TupbePress 4.1

Please note that due to API turn-off at Google, Versions Prior to 4.1 will cease to function on April 20th

Thank you!

Hello Brandon. I have upgraded to TubePress Pro version 4.1.0.

See here :  http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

The thumbnails are appearing now. But a huge blank space appears between the title and the video. Also clicking on the thumbnails does not load the video. I am at a loss here. Just cannot figure out what is going on.

Please make sure to use 4.1.2 (latest release) and let me know if you continue to have spacing or thumbnail issues.

Thanks!

Hi Brandon. I have installed the version 4.1.2 and also identifiied another plugin which was causing the huge blank space. I have deactivated that plugin.

However clicking on any thumbnail still does not load the video concerned. See here : http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

I have also installed the version 4.1.2 in my other website here : http://toptravelbooker.com/videos/

Now this website is also facing the same problem. Earlier with version 3.1.6 everything was working fine. So I assume that means there is no conflict with any other plugin. But now with the Pro version 4.1.2 even on this website clicking on any thumbnail does not load the video concerned. Not good at all.

Any further ideas?

Thanks.

There is an internal server error when trying to load tubepress.css and js files, along with a large # of other files.  I would suggest using firebug plugin for firefox to take a look.

Once those issues are resolved, your site should work great.

Thanks!

Hello Brandon. Yes you may have seen Internal Server Error as I was doing some major troubleshooting earlier. All to no avail.

I have now installed version 4.1.3 but still the same problem is cropping up. What happens is that when I click on any thumbnail the player becomes like greyed over and the video that I clicked on does not load at all. This happens even when I have deactivated every other plugin. So it is not any incompatibility issue with any other plugin.

See : http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

Perhaps there are any specific server settings with my webhosting account that may be the issue  ?

Hello Brandon. Honestly I am getting frustrated with TubePress as I have waste much too much time to get this working. And why is the paid Pro version not working as well as the earlier free version?

See here the sites I have installed the Pro version 4.1.3 :http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

With the Pro version, clicking on a thumbnail makes the player sort of greyed over and the video does not load.

Also installed the Pro version 4.1.3 :  http://toptravelbooker.com/videos/

All of a sudden I am seeing the message : YouTube responded with an error: Quota Exceeded

See here the site where I have left the older version 3.1.6 :  http://cash-rich.net...rketing/videos/

With the older free version it just works.

So Brandon, any help?

Hi nashamiki,

I apologize that you're having a difficult time getting TubePress 4.x.x working correctly. The upgrade from 3.x.x to 4.x.x is not trivial and included many changes. Couple that with the fact that YouTube is shutting down their old API and you have a recipe for frustration. Please know that we are absolutely committed to straightening out any issues that you experience and make this transition as smooth as possible.

See here the sites I have installed the Pro version 4.1.3 :http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

With the Pro version, clicking on a thumbnail makes the player sort of greyed over and the video does not load.

As Brandon and you have already touched on, this page is experiencing a couple HTTP errors when trying to load some of TubePress's core files. For instance,

http://surau-an-nur....js/tubepress.js

is an essential file for TubePress but for whatever reason your webserver can't deliver it. First place I would look is your server error logs as there will certainly be some detail in there. Also check filesystem permissions. You might want to simply wipe our the entire wp-content/plugins/tubepress_pro_4_1_2 directory and replace it with a fresh copy. Addressing this issue is the first thing we'll need to clear up on this site.

Also installed the Pro version 4.1.3 :  http://toptravelbooker.com/videos/

All of a sudden I am seeing the message : YouTube responded with an error: Quota Exceeded

This is a new issue with YouTube's new API that we didn't entirely anticipate. Thankfully the solution is a one-time setup that should take less than 5 minutes at the most. We will be updating our docs to push everyone to do this, instead of using the shared API key that can hit the quota limit.

Lastly, we just released TubePress 4.1.4 with some important bug fixes so I would recommend upgrading.

Thank you for your patience with us as we work through this!

Hello Eric, thanks for your comments.

I have installed the version 4.1.4. And deleted the 4_1_2 version directory from cpanel. Also I have checked and found that the webserver is loading this file :

http://surau-an-nur....js/tubepress.js

I have also setup my own Google API key.

As for file system permissions I have checked and found all the directories show 0755. Is there any particular directory that I should look out for?

OK to recap, I still find the same error happening, i.e clicking on any thumbnail sort of greys over the player and the video of the thumbnail that was clicked does not load. This is still happening with the following sites that I have installed the Pro version 4.1.4 :

http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

http://toptravelbooker.com/videos/

http://hov-pod.net/hov-pod-videos/

Apparently, as I mentioned before, as far as I can tell from my own observation, the only version that is working fine is the older free version 3.1.6. See here :

http://cash-rich.net...rketing/videos/

Unfortunately, as 20 April 2015 is approaching, I believe it may not be working as well come tomorrow.

On http://surau-an-nur.my/test/, this looks like it could be a new bug related to some interference from jetpack. Could you try replacing your copy of wp-content/plugins/tubepress_pro_4_1_4/web/js/wordpress-ajax.js with the following:

!function(n,r){"use strict";var t,e="url",a="tubepress",i="action",u="data",o=u+"Type",s=function(r,s){var c,f,p,l,d=s[u],j=d&&d.hasOwnProperty(a+"_"+i);j&&(c=r[e],p=c===t,f="html"===r[o],l=0===c.indexOf(t+" "),(p||f&&l)&&(d[i]=a,r[u]=n.param(d)))},c=function(){n.ajaxPrefilter(s),t=r.Environment.getAjaxEndpointUrl()};n(c)}(jQuery,TubePress);

That should fix the issue there. On http://toptravelbooker.com/videos/, it looks like we're still getting some HTTP 404 errors, for instance

http://toptravelbook...js/tubepress.js

still isn't working. I would ask your hosting provider to see why it's not returning an HTTP 200. Lastly, for http://hov-pod.net/hov-pod-videos/, are you able to upgrade to PHP 5.3 or higher? I was able to reproduce this issue, but only when dropping back to PHP 5.2. That version of PHP has reached end-of-life.

Thanks

Hello Eric, here are my results :

On  http://surau-an-nur.my/test/

I have changed the wordpress-ajax.js as recommended but there is no change. The thumbnails when clicked still do not load the video. Firebug shows this error message : "NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://surau-an-nur....admin-ajax.php"

On   http://toptravelbooker.com/videos/

I have upgraded to version 4.1.4 so there is no reason for http://toptravelbook...js/tubepress.js to be loading. As it was a remnant left behind when I deleted the older version I have gone into the database and set it to not load automatically. Here again I found that the thumbnails when clicked still do not load the video. Firebug shows this error message which I have no idea what it means :

"NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://toptravelbook...tion=tubepress"

For  http://hov-pod.net/hov-pod-videos/

the PHP version is already 5.4. Also for this page when I click on one of the thumbnails Firebug shows this error message :

"NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://hov-pod.net/w...tion=tubepress"

That's about all I can say at the moment. It seems the problem is still not resolved. Thanks.

Thanks for reporting back. This morning I just release TubePress 4.1.5 which will almost certainly fix the problems you're experiencing on toptravelbooker and hov-pod. It *might* also fix surau-an-nur, but if not than we will keep digging until it's resolved.

I apologize for the constant onslaught of new releases of TubePress - this is a bit of a chaotic time for us and I really appreciate your patience in working out these bugs!

Thanks

We updated to 4.1.5 and added our google api key. We have the same problem. The top video plays but thumbnail videos don't play. Also the full list from the playlist is not visible.
