Invalid Signature And 32 Errors

Best Answer backleft, 30 March 2015 - 11:34 PM

Thanks Eric, this sounds like a good option and I'll have them do that and use the privacy settings.

Thank you!

Hi, I've been reviewing all the help documents related to 'invalid signature' but nothing is fixing my issue. I just purchased the pro version and all I get is the 'invalid signature' error. I have debugging turned on, and it shows 33 errors that don't make sense. I can't put the link here because we aren't ready for this dev site to be exposed.  Is there a way to get private support for this issue?

Errors are listed below. Really need some help and would appreciate all you can provide.

Thanks!

Mark

Per the error message within the Code (have to look at the page source to see it)

The oauth_signature passed was not valid.

Please verify that your oauth signature and secret are valid.

Thanks!

Ok, I think I know what the issue is. The good news is that we have the solution - the bad news is that you'll have to contact Vimeo first.

Brief history. Vimeo is upgrading their API from v2 to v3. They seem to be slowly removing v2-related pages from their site, so you can't see the "OAuth" tab. We have written the code for TubePress to work with v3, but it's not quite production ready. Point is that in the future you won't hit this problem.

Here is the thread with the other customer that had your exact issue. The last two or three posts are the relevant ones. You can contact Vimeo using the form here - just click the "Still need help? Contact us." link and send in your message there. You could even send them a link to the other thread here to refresh their memory. They seem to be pretty responsive with this stuff.

Give that a try?

Thanks!

Brandon, here's what they say:

-----

Thanks for your interest in using our API! Before we grant you access to the Advanced API, please be aware that we no longer support the Advanced API, and will no longer be making feature updates to it. The Advanced API will be shut down in the near future, with no date currently set for that to happen.

We strongly recommend using our new API over any of our previous APIs. The new API uses a much simpler URL structure, and follows many of REST’s best practices. Additionally, many Content Management Systems that previously required Advanced API access now use the new API, and we encourage developers to seek out those CMS’s. You can learn more about the new API from our Developer site right here: https://developer.vimeo.com/api/start

That said, if you still wish to access the Advanced API, please let us know exactly what app or service you’re using that requires Advanced API access. If you’re developing your own app and need Advanced API access or features, please let us know so our engineers can get you started using our new API (we promise, it’s way, way better).

-----

Sounds like if they're going to shut it down soon, then we might run into problems. Couple questions:

1. How soon will the new code be production ready?

2. Shall I still have them do this?

3. Can you tell me what I should tell them in answer to their questions?

Thanks!

Hi, still hoping for an answer to these questions.

Also, how can I set privacy setting so you can't view them on Vimeo, but you can view them in TubePress?

Thanks!!

Mark

Hi Mark,

We anticipate having TubePress working with their new API in the next few weeks - I'd say by May at the latest, but that is a rough estimation. I would recommend that you write back to Vimeo with something along the lines of the following:

Thank you for getting back to me. I'm using TubePress (http://tubepress.com/) on my website to display galleries of my Vimeo videos. The current stable version of TubePress relies on version 2 of the Vimeo API. The TubePress developers have updated their code to work with version 3 of your API, but it's not quite 100% production ready and stable. In the interest of getting my website moving along, would you be able to enable the "OAuth" tab for my app so that I can supply TubePress with the appropriate credentials?

How does that sound? Fingers crossed that they'll be cool with this. Please accept my apologies in creating these extra hoops to jump through.

Also, how can I set privacy setting so you can't view them on Vimeo, but you can view them in TubePress?

Check out this explanation of Vimeo's privacy settings. You'll want to use the "Hide this video from Vimeo.com" option.

Does this answer your questions so far? Thank you!

Hi Brandon and Eric and other TubePress staff.  This issue seems to be cleared up now with the access to the old api. I had to create a new app, FYI.  But that's no big deal.

Another question for you. On the home page of the site I sent you to, I have [tubepress] embedded to display Vimeo videos. But, the main video is taking up the whole width of the main column. I've been trying to use change the height and width of the main player using something like this:

[tubepress embeddedHeight="250" embeddedWidth="350"]

But it doesn't work.  At best, I can change the height a little, but, when I use a smaller integer, the player window actually grows bigger...  And the width doesn't change anything.

Any ideas here?

Thank you!!

Mark

Also, been trying to use a vimeo channel to show all 11 videos and smaller main video size but these two short codes produce the same output of large video and only 6 videos:

[tubepress channel="CHANNEL-NAME-HERE" embeddedHeight="150" embeddedWidth="250" resultsPerPage="30"]

[tubepress]

Obviously, I'm missing something to make this work properly. Can you shed some light on this for me?

Thanks!

Do you have the box: Responsive Embeds checked?

If so, please uncheck and let us know if that works better for you.

Thanks!

Mark,

TubePress doesn't support the shortcode option channel

Take a look here for a listing of all available shortcode options.

Thanks!

hmm. That's unfortunate. It looks like it also doesn't support albums. How do I get a selection of videos from Vimeo to show without showing all of them? I want something like your demo but I've got 11 videos to show that right now are in a specific channel and a specific Album.  How do I get them to show? This is why we purchased the pro version...

Thanks!

Thanks for that. I see those and it seems to show the right channel, but it still won't show all the videos. I need a way to show all the videos in the channel or Album from Vimeo like your demo...

Thanks!

Can you turn debug back on for your site please. I'd like to see what Vimeo is returning in details.

Thanks!
