Here's how to create and enter your own Google API key for TubePress. This is annoying, yes, but it's also unfortunately unavoidable. This process is a one-time setup and should take you no longer than 2 minutes.
 

• You'll need a Google account. If you don't have one, you can sign up for one for free.
   
• Visit the Google Developer's Console.
   
• Once you sign in, click the "Create Project" button.
  
   
• Enter anything you'd like for the Project name and Project ID
  
   
• After the project is created (it'll take a few seconds) click the APIs link under APIs & Auth
  
   
• Click the link for YouTube Data API
  
   
• Click Enable API
  
   
• Click Credentials under APIs & Auth
  
   
• Under Public API Access, click the button for Create new Key
  
   
• Click Server key
  
   
• Click the Create button. You can leave the text area empty.
  
   
• Copy your new API key
  
   
• If you are using WordPress, enter your new key at WP Admin > TubePress > Feed > YouTube > Google API Key. If you are using standalone PHP, add the googleApiKey to your shortcode. e.g.
  
  

  [tubepress mode="tag" googleApiKey="yourkeyhere"]

Great Instructions...  It was very easy - However,  It worked perfectly on one site: http://disastersprep.uson my second site: http://domainingarea.com/videos/  -  I only get 3 videos on the video page with links to other pages...  the same happened on my 3rd site -   http://4xpips.com/forex-video/ - How do I fix???  Must I set up a new api code for each site???  Please let me know what to do before I spend a lot of time trying to fix...Thank you, and thank you for the terrific support   Larry Newman

I'm having a similar issue (hope it's okay to mix & match related issues here)

- I had the previous free version installed

- Just installed 4.1.4 pro today

- I've followed the instructions to get unincluded libraries up and running

- I've renewed my Youtube API (Was getting the "exceeded" message)

 

When I click thumbnails, the embed greys out and nothing plays and I get a continual series of "Untrusted Origin" js errors in the console 

 

We're using Tubepress at http://www.stlegacyg.../legacy-videos/

 

We're using the site at a conference starting tomorrow, so any help is much appreciated!

domainingarea.com is showing 17 pages of videos.

 

4xpips.com - Go to TubePress Settings > Feed > Only retrieve embeddable videos and uncheck that box. That should solve your issue.

I came up with these critical errors on my site http://webfitnesscenter.com-  This email was sent from your website "Web Fitness Center" by the Wordfence plugin.

This site and others crashed severly when wordfence finds these errors...  What can you tell me about them???  I would like wordfence to find tubepress pro...Clean???    Also:

I have an automatic updater for all of my wordpress sites... I am unable to autoupdate anything until you make tubepress automatically updateable... I must do them one at a time...  Step 1.  delete the old tubepress (first) if wordfence lets me..

Step 2. upload and install the new tubepress version 4_1_5.

Step 3.  check the settings.

Then check the video page...  All is well, the an hour or 2 later I get notified of the wordfence error... But if I have inadvertently updated the site crashes so completely that I have to uninstall and reinstall from scratch ( real pain, because some of my backups are weeks old - so I lose some content. OH well, enough griping.

Can you fix these errors, and make the tubepress pro updates just as easy as my other plugins.  I love the tubepress and when it is working after all the above processes I really recommend it to anyone that has videos to display.

Automatic updates are on the road plan, however it will not be provided by the WordPress repository.

You will want to speak with the makers of that plugin, as there is no malware in TubePress.

Brandon is right that there is no malware or known security vulnerabilities in TubePress. I just ran a WordFence scan on my test environment with TubePress Pro 4.1.5 and didn't receive any of these warnings. Looking at the source code for WordFence, it seems that it triggers this error when it finds an executable file that contains functions that attackers use to hide malicious code. So the first thing you could do is change the filesystem permissions of your WordPress installation and make sure that none of the .php files are executable. That's both a good security practice and it should get rid of that warning message.

 

To be extra paranoid - and I would be! - you should compare your versions of those two files to the ones found in a fresh copy from tubepress.com.

If I run a bunch of sites can I use the same API on each one?  My clients don't know anything about these things and it would be a pain to have to use a separate google account to generate a separate one for each site.  Thanks!

Absolutely! Their quota is about 50M requests per day, so it's very unlikely that you'll run into any issues.

I've done all the steps and my video page still only shows 3 videos when it should be showing 30+

 

Any ideas how to get it working?

TubePress Free Trial version is limited to 3 thumbnails. You will need to upgrade to TubePress Pro in order to unlock the rest of your thumbnails, along with other features.
