I noticed on your website that TubepressPro is now up to version 4.1.3.
My copy of WordPress did not notify me that my copy of TubePressPro was out of date. Why?
I downloaded 4.1.3 to my computer then uploaded it as a new plugin. It did not REPLACE the existing version but instead became another plugin on the website. Why?

Can't this be automated so that notifications are on the control panel and upgrades are just one or two clicks? After installing the new version, I had to delete the old version so that there would not be two versions online.

Great question. As of right now, the free version of TubePress gets update notifications and automatic update installs. TubePress Pro, ironically, doesn't enjoy these capabilities. That said, in our next release (v4.1.4 as of this writing) we will implement update notifications for Pro users. The second piece of the puzzle - automatic update installations for TubePress Pro - are on our roadmap for the near future. It's a little more complicated because we will need to provide everyone with an API key that phones back to our servers.

 

So the short answer is: stay tuned!

I am getting the notification for 4.1.4, but the update fails. I guess that is the second piece of the puzzle that is not yet completed.

Correct. 4.1.4 introduced update notifications for Pro users but the automated upgrade piece isn't in place yet. Sorry for the trouble - please know that we are working on it!
