I"m using TubePress in a mobile website. TubePress width and height not working when viewed on mobile devices. Not just this installation but different mobile sites using tubepress. Gallery works fine but settings for embedded video width/height not taking effect. Also tried using the shortcode embeddedWidth and embeddedHeight to no avail.

Again, it works on Desktops just fine, but width / height do not work in mobile devices.

Any ideas? Been pulling my hair out for a week.

Thanks very much.

I see that you have the height/width set at 250x255, and as you said it appears to work correctly on desktop machines. Could you describe a bit more the symptoms when viewed on mobile devices? Also, which class of mobile devices have you been testing with? (i.e. Android, iOS, etc).

Another interesting datapoint to know would be how your mobile experience is at http://tubepress.com/demo. Do you see the same issues? Thanks.

Eric,

I've been seeing this too. The behavior (on iPad/iPhone) is that the thumbnail is stretched out vertically, maybe 2 or 3 times the desired height. When you click to play, the video plays at the correct dimensions, but the black box behind it is the size of the vertically stretched thumbnail, i.e. you get a nice 4:3 or 16:9 video in the middle (vertically) of a skyscraper black box.

Yes, it happens with tubepress.org/demo.

Similar stuff happens with shadow/fancy/box, although there's a bit less method to the madness.

If you don't have access to an iOS device, I could shoot a video of this behavior in action and post it (but don't watch it with tubepress on an iOS device ;)

BTW, thanks the for Ajax guidance... testing it now!

Tony

Yes, the height was set to whatever just to see if the change takes effect. It doesn't work on mobile regardless of the values entered ;-). The width/height I'm after is 275W x 225H, which also doesn't work. I've also tried using embeddedHeight, embeddedWidth in the tubepress tag and that does not work.

Some details:

The site mobile.hassonandwong.com is on WordPress 3.1 using Smooci 2 2.1.3 mobile theme. (By the way. This is a great mobile wp theme that doesn't break the thumbnail anchors). I've tested the site on my iPhone 3G, HTC Hero with Android 2.1 . That's all for the moment. The width/height settings do take effect viewing from a desktop as you've seen.

I've tried using other options: with 'popup' the video height is still stretched, 'new window' same result.

I hope these details help. Oddly enough, I swear last week it worked when I first installed the free plugin from the WordPress repository, then suddenly it stopped working. The other sites are using their own installation of the plugin from wordpress and have the same issue. I was convinced that this was some weird cashing issue. Don't know enough about the bones of the plug. I've also tried changes the tubepress css and tried hardcoding the width within in your code. Didn't work either and not really the best solution anyway.

Yes, the tubepress.org/demo gives me the same height stretching issue on my iPhone 3G. Interesting note, when the site was loading, I see a flash of black background (I'm assuming the iframe) that IS the right height for just 1 second, then as soon as the video loads the heigh stretches. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Tom

I've filed a ticket for this here: http://code.google.c...s/detail?id=305. Tried to incorporate all of the details you've provided so far. I'm swamped until this weekend, at which point I'll be able to take a closer look on my iphone 4. Hopefully there will be an easy fix. Stand by for updates!

Thanks Eric.

The width / height on mobile issue is now resolved. The videos are displaying correctly. Apparently your ticket was looked into.
You can see the gallery in action at at http://mobile.hasson...nsplant-videos/

Thanks.

Tom.

Ha! I'm not really sure what changed, but I really do love bugs that fix themselves ;) I checked out your gallery on my iPhone and it works perfectly indeed. Thanks for the report, and be sure to let me know if it starts acting up again.

Very strange...I did nothing to fix it. Tried many things to no avail. I'll keep an eye on it.
