I am putting a site together for a comedian who has collaborated on videos that exist both on her youtube channels and others. There are some videos on other peoples' channels (she can't edit the meta data in youtube) that don't show collaborative credits. So there are videos she wants on her site, but she doesn't want to pass them off as her own without giving proper credit to her collaborators.
Is there any way to add custom meta data to specific videos if it doesn't originate from youtube? Could I add custom text to the description or title or something?
I gave all that background in case it helps with context but also because I think it's a good example of the kind of situation where this feature would be useful, and I don't think it's that unusual given that one of the greatest things about tubepress is its ability to create galleries from videos on multiple channels.
Add custom meta data?

Thanks for bringing up an interesting use case. As you seem to have figured out, TubePress doesn't have a very easy way to achieve this. It's far from the cleanest way to do it, but you could implement a custom TubePress theme that displays the appropriate meta info under the videos you specify. http://tubepress.com...us...via_themes. The theme files are just plain PHP, so you could add some custom conditional logic in your theme files to display extra meta info if certain conditions are met. In other words, make the theme smart enough to say "if I am display video with id X, I should add some extra output."
Upcoming versions of TubePress will support locally uploaded videos. Along with this, I'll be implementing a simple yaml-based system to allow users to supply meta info for their videos. I'd imagine it would be relatively straightforward to extend this capability to videos pulled in from YouTube/Vimeo. Keep an eye on this issue to follow updates.
Hope I answered some of your questions. Thanks.

This sounds great! However I don't know if I'm well versed enough in php to be able to accomplish this. Which files would I need to customize? Would it be beyond the scope of the support you can give to provide more detailed instructions for the customization itself too?
Regardless, thanks so much for your help.
