Hi,

I'm using tubepress on a Wordpress site that will be loaded into Facebook and therefore requires everything to be embedded over HTTPS, so it is absolutely vital that this works

I've got the latest version and set it to use SSL, and the gallery thumbnails are loaded over HTTPS just fine, except the youtube iframe embed still has an src=http:// to youtube

Please advise.

Full HTTPS support is a feature reserved for TubePress Pro only. With TubePress Pro you can force all elements - thumbs, iframes, etc - to load via HTTPS.
