Tubepress Not Displaying All Youtube Videos

youtube

Best Answer Bill Lacy , 12 June 2013 - 12:07 PM

Ok, the above debug helped me figure it out...

I changed the shortcode on the page from:

[tubepress mode="favorites"]

to

[tubepress mode="playlist"]

And all the right amount of videos with pages now appear. I didn't realize that the default favorites playlist has limit. All is well now.

Thanks for your assistance!

Hello,

This works great and the videos play great. There are over 150 videos in the YouTube Channel favorites playlist, however, I am only able to see 3 pages of videos... There should be at least 6 pages. Is there a way to fix this? I've been having this issue for about a year. I just upgraded to the newest version of TubePress today (June 7, 2013) and I thought it may fix the issue but it did not. Please help.

WP 3.3.2

Website: liivefancii.com/fancii-cam/

YouTube channel playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=FLEN5BW1XdJG43UPO0ohYP1Q

Bill,

Please enable Tubepress Debugging from: WP Settings > TubePress > Advanced and check the box next to debugging.  This will allow us to see "behind the scenes" and figure out what is going on with your TubePress install.

Let us know.

Thanks!

Bill,

In looking out the debug output from TubePress, I can see that YouTube originally returns 164 videos, with 21 per page.

However, it appears that a large majority (114 videos) are restricted in some way by the original uploader.  These restrictions could include either the video's not being marked as "embeddable"  or they are restricted to certain geographic locations (such as Brazil, USA, UK, Europe, Asia, etc).

You can also try going to WP Settings > TubePress > Feed > and "uncheck" 'Only retrieve embeddable videos'

Let us know.

Thanks

Hello Brandon,

I just realized something that may or may not be related to the same issue...

Whenever I add a video to my YouTube favorite playlist, TubePress purges one of the existing videos from the page. There are 21 videos on page 1, however page 2 and 3 are showing 18 videos each. I have my settings at 21 vids per page.

I understand about the restrictions... I unchecked the setting for "only retrieve embeddable videos" but it's still not showing all the videos.

Bill,

When looking at the debug output on page 2, I see the following lines:

[2013-06-12 00:36:02] [DEBUG] YouTube Video Provider: Reported total result count is 165 video(s)
[2013-06-12 00:36:02] [DEBUG] YouTube Video Provider: Now attempting to build 20 video(s) from raw feed
[2013-06-12 00:36:02] [DEBUG] YouTube Video Provider: Skipping video at index 9
[2013-06-12 00:36:02] [DEBUG] YouTube Video Provider: Skipping video at index 16
[2013-06-12 00:36:02] [DEBUG] YouTube Video Provider: Built 18 video(s) from raw feed

As you can see, Tubepress is skipping video's 9 and 16.

This is normally caused because a video is restricted by the person, or company, that uploaded it to a certain geographic area. (Usually country or continent)  So the location of your server is not able to access the videos because of these restrictions.

One thing you can try is to contact the 'owner' of the video's in your favorite list that are not showing up and ask them to remove the location restrictions.

Let us know!

Thanks!

Alright, similar issue, though I don't believe I have the same cause.  Trying to display my channel (so I've set all the videos as public and embed) but only showing 5 videos rather than the 9 in my channel.

Just to see what it would do, I upload several more videos.  Now a total of 13 videos on my channel, yet only 8 are showing on tubepress.  So it is adding them... just not all of them.

Well after sleeping on it, some of the videos just started appearing, so there is a significant delay for whatever reason (and I tried turning off and deleting the cache before.)

chadwickhugh,

The YouTube API has up to a 24hr delay between when a video is uploaded to their servers and when it becomes available via the API.

Let us know if you have any other issues or questions.

Thanks!

Brandon, that appears to be the issue.  Too bad it's no quicker, not your fault though.
