Hi,

Recently my client has last the ability to post new videos on their forum. When posting a video URL (as they used to), they are redirected to a 403 Forbidden screen. I can post the info here, or you can see for yourself at: http://www.nucanoe.com/forum/

Create a new account and attempt to post the URL of a video in the post/ whether it be a reply or new topic, and you'll be redirected to a 403 forbidden page.

More technical details:

WordPress 4.1.1

TubePress 3.1.6

Simple:Press 5.5.5

I believe after updating to Simple:Press and WordPress the issue started happening. My hunch is it has something to do with the database, but I want to be sure before I hop in there too deep. Tried the normal, disabling plugins, etc.

Kind Regards,

How can I do this? it isn't available via the updates and I don't see it in the WP repo - we are using the "lite" version as well, but I don't think that should matter in terms of it working.

Okay, thanks for your help Brandon. I updated to the latest version of the plugin and the issue isn't fixed.

I still get the error - I am willing to provide login details, etc, but if you create a basic account and try to do it - it works just the same. Not sure whats wrong.

Does this plugin use databases at all, if so, what are the name of the tables? Thanks!

Hi Click,

TubePress utilizes the main wordpress database.

Can you provide a link to a specific post/page/site that has this issue.

Thanks!

I can't provide credentials as its a big website, and there are thousands of customers - but if you create a basic user account and try to post the URL of a YouTube video (copy from URL bar), it won't let you post. This happens with all types of user accounts on simple press.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the reply. The error doesn't allow you to post videos, this is the cause of reporting the issue. I have a very upset client because hundreds of people visit the website and use the forums and this plugin is causing a lot of issues ( I have another thread open ). As mentioned before, simply create an account and try posting a youtube URL in your post - normally this would ember/show/link to the video, but instead it nets an error. I would send credentials to an account but it really doesn't matter what account you use, I've tried all level types (permissions, etc) and it happens with all of them.

In a nutshell: this error doesn't allow one to post, it prevents them from posting with a video.

Interesting.  And how are you using TubePress to allow them to post youtube links and tie in to the TubePress plugin to create the gallery? I apologize for the question, however I've never seen TubePress used this way and was not aware it was even possible, to be honest.

Thanks!

Hi Brandon,

Valid question - all I know is I was noted of this issue and they were able to post a link and the video show up (afaik), but recently this is not possible. If this is something TubePress doesn't do, then I apologize for the confusion. Still, the link cannot be posted and the error points to tubepress I believe. I tried disabling tubepress but that didnt fix the issue - I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the tables?

Just to reiterate what Brandon said - TubePress doesn't have any uploading/posting capabilities for videos right now. However I'm not ruling out some interference between TubePress and something else on your website. Let us know how we can assist - thanks.
