Hi,

I just upgraded to Pro, but unfortunately there are some issues.

The main problem that the youtube player does not work. Fancy box does work, so I could switch to that - however I prefer the video to simply load in the original youtube page (ideally in a new tab (target="_blank"), but I suppose that's for another post).

This is the page:

https://taidoworld.com/lessons/

And as you can see, clicking on it does nothing. Firebug console reveals the following error:

No engine is able to work with the template "gallery/player/ajax".

This is very strange, as I did not have this issue in the free version of Tubepress.

Also, a couple of videos are not being loaded correctly to all playlists. Again, this worked fine in the free version - so I am a bit confused.

When I tried removing the plugin and re-installing it, I noticed that my settings were not changed back to default. Is there a cache in there somewhere that is causing this issue?

Thanks, I hope you can help!

rostam24,

When clicking a video, I receive the following error in the Firebug Console:

NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error

Please review your system logs to see what caused the error.

As for the videos that are not showing up, are they your videos that you placed on YouTube, or are they others?  It is possible that the person may have marked them as private, or non-embedable.

In regards to defaulting your settings, TubePress stores its settings in the WordPress master database, so uninstalling it and re-installing it will not set it back to default.  There is currently no "default settings" option to perform this reversion.

Thanks!

I don't see anything interesting in the logs (except something about WP statistics, but disabling that plugin does not resolve the issue).

Could I PM you the error logs that occur when I click on the thumbnail? Maybe you see something that I don't :)

I would suggest involving the technical support team of your hosting provider to assist you, as they are much better prepared.

Thanks!

There is no technical support team, as I am using a VPS.

Why did the free version work without problems, and does the pro version have these issues?

I hope you can help me, because otherwise I am stuck with a premium plugin that doesn't work as expected :-/

OK so I took another look at the logs, and really the only thing in there was about WP Statistics. So I changed the settings of WP Statistics (so that it wouldn't try to keep statistics of EVERY page), and now there is absolutely nothing in the error log when I click on one of the thumbnails...

I also tried WP Debug and WP Debug log - and again, nothing.

So whatever is going on, there is no mention of it in the logs.

The only 2 things I can see:

 - 500 internal server error according to firebug

 - No engine is able to work with the template "gallery/player/ajax" according to the response message

Again, the weird thing is that the free version worked just fine.

So, any ideas..? Thank you for your time :)

rostam,

Something, possibly an .htaccess file has changed, and that is causing the Server to return an internal error.

Lets try something, would you please completely remove TubePress Pro, re-download the file from our Marketplace above, and then re-install to your server and try again?

Thanks!

Thanks, Brandon! I tried it, but no luck. I also tried version 4.0.5, and that didn't work either.

Strangely, 3.1.6 does load videos! However, the pagination doesn't work.

Do you think that both the videos not working in 4.0.6 and 4.0.5 and the pagination not working in 3.1.6 have the same underlying cause? That might help narrow it down :)

In any case, thank you very much for your help!

Rostam,

It is very likely that the root cause of both issues is the same, as the pagination uses AJAX, and that is what returns the Internal Server Error when your site is using 4.x.x

Thanks!

No ideas for a solution?

I hate to keep asking you for help, but the free version worked just fine. I did not expect functionality to suddenly stop working with the pro version, it's not something I expected. If I can't get this plugin to work properly, then I'll have to uninstall it and ask for my money back :-/

rostam24,

I have verified that the youtube player option functions properly (and opens the page in a new tab/window) in TubePress 4.0

As to why it is not working on your site, I am not sure, since the error given is an internal server error.

I am sorry we can not provide more insight than that.

You may wish to try updating your TubePress to the version just released today (which fixes some other bugs) and test again. Also, I'd recommend updating your jQuery and PHP to the newest versions.

Thanks!

I can't find this new version you are talking about, newest version I tried is 4.0.6.

I tried using newest jquery and php, then reverted because it didn't help either.

Thank you very much for your help, but it seems like the pro version of this plugin won't work properly for me. Very strange, because I had no issues with the free version.

In any case, it's not working so I will have to ask for a refund. Please contact me via PM so we can discuss how to do this.

Rostam,

Unfortunately, since the problem is not with TubePress Pro, but with your configuration, we can not offer you a refund.  I have verified on multiple different WordPress sites that the YouTube native player is working properly, as it should.

As the error is a 500 Internal Server Error, there should be some logs showing what is causing the error, but it is an internal server error and therefore not related to TubePress and its functionality, but a setting or configuration on your server.

Thanks!

I tried the free version, which worked 100%. That's why I decided to go for the pro version, and now functionality that used to work no longer works. Regardless of whether or not the fault is in your software, the product does not work for me - it never has.

Most countries, including every country in the EU, has a law that states that consumers have a 14 day "cooling off" period. This means a consumer can get his money back within 14 days of receiving the goods.

Please do the right thing, and contact me for a refund today.
