Thumbnails - Not Showing/playing All

Good news - bug found and fixed, at least for IE 8 and below. Thank you very much for reporting this. I'm a little surprised that this bug didn't surface sooner! IE 9 and above should be working normally, so let's get you set up with this latest fix before we re-test.

To get the fix, please download and install TubePress 3.1.2.RC3 (download free version from here, Pro version from here). I've installed this version of TubePress on tubepress.com, as well as TubePress for Wix, and it seems to be operating normally.

Please install and let us know how it works for you. Thanks!

Support -

I have set my thumbnails to show 20 per page but it keeps showing only 19.  If I select to show 15 thumbnails per page it keeps showing only 14.  If I select 10, then it shows 10 per page.  This is a new issue and it worked fine up until a few days ago.  Please advise how best to resolve.

Also, can you please provide an update on the status of the IE7 - IE8 Thumbnail bug?  According to this bug report, it says it is resolved https://code.google..../detail?id=4422 but I can't get it to work in IE7 or IE8 no matter what I do.  Even after upgrading Adobe Flash Player, it only plays the first video by pressing on the big picture play button.  Tubepress thumbnails that show work perfectly in all other browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari) as well as all mobile browsers (e.g. Android, Chrome, Dolphin, Opera and Safari).  It also works great in IE9 and IE10.  Unfortunately, too many users still default to IE7 or IE8 or even worse IE6 in some cases.  Can you please let me know if this has been fixed or what anyone has figured out for a workaround?

Thanks again for a great plugin.

jcarrier,

please post a link to your website and ensure that you have tubepress debugging enabled so that we may troubleshoot your issue.

As for the IE8 issue, I have asked our developers for an update.

Thank you!

Hi jcarrier,

Please send us a link to your site so we can take a look in IE8. Everything should be working now with all versions of IE - at least according to our testing. Feel free to PM me the link if you can't share it with the world.

Thanks

Eric -

Thanks for the reply.  I have tested the following site on both Virtual Box (IE8 - IE10) and miscellaneous IE8-IE10 PC installs.  For IE8, the video thumbnails fail to initiate playing the selected video; however, the first video can load (with Adobe Flash) by pressing on the big play button.  Here is the link for your testing.  http://www.worldnews...com/top-videos/

Thanks again.

Does this fix the issue I am specifically having?

When activated, the thumbnails do not appear for any browser even when refreshing.
It also blanks out NextGen Gallery pages.
I love this video thumbnail plugin, but still can't figure out the issue.

Let me know what I can do.

I have created my own topic about my issue.

Eric -

Thanks for the reply.  As requested, I upgraded to TP 3.1.2 RC3 (free) but the release candidate did not change the outcome.

It works without issue on Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari but IE8 still does not work (tested with Virtual Machine and PC install).

Please advise on an update on a fix for this issue for IE8, and thanks again for your efforts to fix.

When is it possible to expect finishing works on 3.1.2 and the release to the final version?

Thanks,

Jacek

@jacek - Are you a TubePress Developer?  If so, I could use your help to get it fully functional otherwise please let Eric and his team handle the troubleshooting to resolve the on-going IE8 issue.

@eric - The problem with TubePress in IE8 is that all of the Thumbnails show but I can only get the first thumbnail to play by pressing on the big play button for the first video.  The thumbnail hyperlinks do not work.

Please advise how best to resolve.  Thanks again.

@worldnewsreader

Are you a TubePress Developer?

No, no, but I looked at your web page and it turns out that everything with her all right - is acting under IE8. I had the same problem and at me is also acting.
He can with your Virtual Machine something's wrong, because on original IE8, Tubepress is already acting.

If you are having access to some PC with installed XP try to inspect it.

Best Regards

Jacek

@jacek - I tried the latest TP ver 3.1.2 RC 3 but it fails to load by clicking on the thumbnails for both Windows XP and Windows 7.  I have tried multiple IE8 installs besides the Virtual Machine.  None have worked...

@worldnewsreader

In Windows XP the iE8 browser is installed native, however in Windows 7 it isn't possible to install IE8.
You can still check in IE10 / 11 on Win7 changing the version in the IE console table on 8, but it isn't a good way because not always gives good effects - on the example of Tubepress I just saw it for myself.
The only representative result is giving testing on original IE8 installed on of Win XP  (users will so also be looking your website through)
Really your website from Tubepress 3.1.2 RC3 works - every thumbnails is reacting and an appropriate film is opening.
(Tubepress 3.1.2 RC2 isn't acting under IE8 !!!).

Best Regards
Jacek

Hmm that's strange. This new version should have fixed the problem you're experiencing with IE8, even in a VM. I'm not giving up! Really want to get to the bottom of this bug. Here's how i suggest that we proceed:

  1. I see that you are using CloudFlare, which is a smart move. But that you're also using Rocket Loader, and I'm wondering if this is causing an issue with IE8. To test, could you turn off Rocket Loader either for your entire domain (even temporarily) or just for one of your test pages (using a page rule). With some luck, that will fix IE8 and we can go from there.

  2. If you are able and willing, I'd be interested in logging in to your site with view and edit privileges to perform a little debugging. If you'd like to go that route, feel free to PM me with the credentials.

Thanks for your continued patience with this! Please know that we are highly motivated to find the bug and fix it for you.

@Eric

Hi Jacek,

Short story: within a week from now. I'd like to put the nail in the coffin on this remaining IE8 bug. I understand that jcarrier's site works for you in IE8 and XP (and thank you for helping to test!), but we'd like to get TubePress to function even in a VM if at all possible. So after we get this forum thread resolved, I'll start the release procedure for 3.1.2 final.

Does that answer your question? Thanks again!

We just released TubePress 3.1.2, which includes the primary fixes for Internet Explorer 8 and below. However, this version unfortunately does still not work with CloudFlare's Rocket Loader. We spent a good amount of time trying to diagnose the issue, but couldn't afford to continue to delay this release any longer.

Far from being dead, we are highly motivated to resolve the issue with Rocket Loader as TubePress uses CloudFlare's services extensively. To make sure nothing slips through the cracks, I've filed a bug report on GitHub. Feel free to "watch" that issue to track updates. I'll post updates there as I have them.

The workaround for now is to either disable Rocket Loader on your domain, or (and this is better) use a CloudFlare Page Rule to turn off Rocket Loader for any page on your site that uses TubePress.

@Eric - DId you receive my PM - I sent you all that you requested to take a closer look at this issue - please confirm.  Much appreciated...

I did get your PMs. Thank you! And my apologies for not responding sooner. Since we have the capability to set up test pages with (and without) Rocket Loader, it's unlikely that I'll be using the credentials that you sent. Really appreciate the offer, though, and I very well might bug you again if testing on our side is insufficient.

Hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask questions if you have them! Thanks

@Eric - I have added Page Rules within CloudFlare, and that works perfectly as a temporary RocketLoader workaround.  Please let me know if you need admin access to further beta test the issue prior to an IE8 final fix.  Many thanks for all of your help as we work together to resolve this issue.  I'll follow the progress on GitHub, and please include in any future release in the notes if/when this IE8 issue is finally resolved.  Much appreciated...

In case anyone has missed it, I've just added some information to the GitHub issue. In short, I'm having trouble reproducing the issue in a clean TubePress install.

Looking forward to your feedback.
