Youtube Playlists that contain deleted videos no longer loading. Seems to be a recent issue.

We are still testing the deleted video bug, but here is what else we found...

It seems YouTube is now limiting ajax requests to 25 per page. 26 will break your site when you click on page 2.

If you are using the default player you are limited to 12 per page using ajax. If you have 13 or more once you click on a thumb to load the player it will break and not show title or description and you can not click on other thumbs.

YouTube posted they made some changes to the playlists yesterday.

PS
All tested with latest versions, default wp theme all other plugins turned off.

Thanks for your reports. I just tested a page that has 50 videos per page and Ajax pagination seems to be working correctly.

Is your site still broken? Could you share a link to your gallery so I could take a closer look? I'm wondering if something else is interfering with TubePress's ability to load the videos when you click a thumb.

Thanks!

Unfortunately it is a development site. We tested with the Default WP theme no code changes and all plugins turned off.

Did you test with a YouTube playlist. All other types work fine. The thumbnail was just one of 2 (maybe more) issues involving YT playlists.

My guess if they changed the flood limit to 25 requests. 13 breaks the thumbs 25 breaks the page nav only on playlists. I was thinking it was reading the thumbs twice when it loads the player (12 x 2 = 24 works 13 x 2 = 26 breaks). It's just a guess.

Any chance you could share the playlist you're working with? I wonder if there's something strange about it. Feel free to PM it to me if you can't share it with the world. You could also PM me you're site's address, if possible...

Here was my last test:

  • Playlist PL6B90E7C88AD5B0C1. It has about 54 videos, including a few deleted videos.
  • 30 videos per page
  • Ajax pagination
Unfortunately everything still works normally for me. Here are some screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/vtUXU.

We tested with the Default WP theme no code changes and all plugins turned off.

So that definitely rules out any interference in the browser. It must be something with the API.

I'm signing off for the night but will be back tomorrow. Thanks!

After testing a bit more the thumb not being clickable seems to be a issue on our end, but the 25 per page nav only effects YouTube.

It is not a issue on our end. Your playlist also breaks both issues. Clicking on a thumb will load one but it breaks the title and description and won't let you click on another (vimeo & Youtube). The page bug seems to only by YouTube.
In your tests you only have 18 items per page (26 breaks it). I also can not see the video title or description.

Sorry I was only using 20 thumbs in Vimeo I tested with it also breaks at 25. These bugs effect both YouTube and Vimeo.

My suspicion now is that you're experiencing symptoms of this bug. There is a simple workaround described in this post. Give that a try?

Pages still break at 25. Thumbs are breaking at 13 but on some they break at 10.

Did you preform the tests as described? This is a Tubepress issue.

Are you able to share with me (even privately) a link to your dev site? Or even just the playlist you're working with? Without a way to reproduce this issue I'm afraid I won't be of much help. I've tried all sorts of iterations of the tests that you've described and simply cannot get anything to break.

Let me know. Thank you!

Sorry for the delay in replying. The fix did work. I uploaded the revisions to an older version of the plugin by mistake.

Thanks

These issues has not been solved.

While that "fix" solved the thumbs from breaking now autoplay now does not work. Also, this has not been address in the latest version so every time we upgrade we have to hack the files again.

I still consider this a active critical bug.

I'm not sure what you need to test. This bug has been reported here months ago. You even posted a fix for it in this topic. The problem is the "fix" causes other issues, such as auto play is broken. This bug needs to be fixed properly.

We did not discover this bug until we split our database onto its own server. It took us a long time to discover it. I'm sure there are many more users that are also being effected by this that don't realize it or don't have the traffic to clearly notice it. It is very hard to find in the mass of data. We looked for a very long, long time.
