No matching videos - CNAME

My hosting company recently moved my IP Address for my website and I noticed that the videos stopped showing up. They did a redirect to the new IP address so my site wasn't down but the videos started to come up with "No Matching Videos".

I recently updated my site to use the new IP address so I'm wondering if this might be the reason why the videos aren't showing up and I was somehow blocked by youtube due to the IP Address change?

You can see my site at http://tvfoodies.com and you'll notice that none of the videos are appearing.

I just changed my CNAME records to the correct IP Address in the last 24 hours so maybe it just takes time?

Any ideas?

Hi,

Tough to say for sure, but my hunch is that simply changing your server's IP shouldn't affect either TubePress's behavior or its relationship with the YouTube API. Your gallery's debug output should help us diagnose, but I didn't see any galleries on your site. Could you point me to a page that has the "No matching videos" error? We should be able to get you squared away quickly.

All of my posts have a gallery on them so you can click on the one above or any other location to see the debug message.

I appreciate the help, the new IP Address has been updated properly.

Hey!

I think I am having the same problems on my sites.

I checked other support posts on the "No Matching Videos" error and worked with my host and edited my shell, but still cannot bring up my videos... Dreamhost recently changed the machine that all of our sites were hosted on and since it has broken - the confusing part is that I have made sure the 5 ways that Tubepress tries to connect are working...

any luck on your issue so far? do you think that YouTube is blocking us due to the IP address issue?

these guys support are real disappointing especially since I paid for the product.

First I'd like to apologize profusely for the major delay in responding to you! We should be able to get you squared away quickly.

This post outlines the solution that I would recommend for you. Here's the content of the post:

You may have read elsewhere here in the forum that the upcoming version of TubePress produces human-readable error messages instead of the insanely vague "No matching videos" message.

In the meantime, we'll have to do some digging to see what's going on with your installation. I looked at your debug output and it seems as though execution stops suddenly. Typically this means that TubePress hit a fatal error and couldn't continue. To actually see the error message, please edit this line. Change it from

CODE: SELECT ALL
$generatedHtml = $ms->_('no-videos-found');

to

CODE: SELECT ALL
$generatedHtml = $e->getMessage()

That should make TubePress spit out a more descriptive message.


I'm planning on having a release candidate for the next TubePress version out by today or tomorrow. So if you're feeling brave you could wait until then, but I would suggest simply making the edit outlined above so we can figure out why your gallery isn't working. Let me know what you think. Thank you!

To me that strongly suggests a corrupt TubePress installation. Either the filesystem permissions are incorrect, or some of TubePress's files are simply missing. I would recommend the following things to try:

  • Disable TubePress's cache from WP Admin > Settings > TubePress > Provider Feed
  • If that doesn't work, then go ahead and uninstall your existing copy of TubePress entirely and re-install a fresh version

I had to delete the plugin and install it again for it to work. I suppose I could've done that on my own but was worried about losing everything, knowing that I didn't lose anything was helpful. Now the videos are back and I have to figure out how to fix the gallery now as it's all in 1 line instead of 4 across.
